Brassware/Copperware

The art of brassware, based on the work of the copper foil and its transformation into useful objects or simply decorative.
The artisans are drawn coppersmiths since the time of the Middle Ages.
For hundreds of years we have seen thus a succession of styles in an atmosphere furnished by the sound of hammers on copper.
The Algeria Brassware started since the Middle Ages and got great Turkish inspiration. Localized around the Kasbah, in neighborhoods that are reserved in Algiers, Tlemcen, Constantine and to a lesser degree in Ghardaia and Tindouf, its products reflect a rich ornamental. From Kérouana to Mahbès, through the cup and Taftali, these vases and containers are of unparalleled beauty. Using essentially the copper foil, the coppersmiths manufacture and decorate real art products.
The tops are the specialty of Constantine (eastern region of Algeria) which integrates more decorative oriental symbols. Among the local products, MAHB, CAFAT the Kirouana the M’rach and El Kettara, toilet articles, reflect a tradition in Erlangen.
